Setting up a UB2K Isolated Network
Note: For this setup to work, each kiosk computer will need an Ethernet and a WiFi card. The Ethernet Card will be plugged into the Business Network Router and the WiFi Card will be connected to the Kiosk Upload Router.
This help guide is for advanced users only. In this example, we will be using the two following routers with their respective IP’s. The router we recommend at this time is the Asus RT‐AC1200
- Business Network Router: 192.168.1.1
- Kiosk Upload Router: 192.168.50.1
- Kiosk Ethernet IP: 192.168.1.100
- Kiosk WiFi IP: 192.168.50.100
1. Unbox and power up the new Kiosk Upload Router and place it close to the kiosk computers so that you get the best signal strength.
2. Give the Kiosk Upload Router internet access by plugging in an Ethernet cable coming from your Business Network Router into the Internet port of the Kiosk Upload Router.
3. From any of the kiosk computers, connect to the new Kiosk Upload Router’s WiFi network. (The defautl WiFi SSID and password are written underneath the Router).
4. Connect to the new Router’s configuration page from any browser. In this guide, the IP is 192.168.50.1 Upon connecting to the configuration page for the first time, you will asked to configure your username and password. Make sure you keep that somewhere safe. At this point you should also check for Firmware updates.
5. Go to the Wireless menu and change your SSID and WiFi password to your liking. Upon saving, you will need to reconnect your kiosk computer to the new WiFi network you just created. When done, login again to the Router’s configuration page.
6. Go to the LAN menu then select the DHCP tab. Set static IP for the kiosk computer. In this example we will give the WiFi card the IP 192.168.50.100. Upon saving, you might have to reconnect to the WiFi network.
7. Go to the Firewall menu then select Network Services Filter. Select the following:
- Enable Network Services Filter – Yes
- Filter table type – Black List
- Filtered ICMP packet types – 0 1 2 3 4 5 6 4 5 6 7 8
Under Network Services Filter Table add the following:
- Source IP ‐ 192.168.50.*
- Port Range ‐ >1
- Destination IP ‐ 192.168.1.*
- Port Range ‐ >1
- Protocol – TCP
- Click on the + icon and save.
Repeat the same step again, but select UDP as the Protocol this time.
- Source IP ‐ 192.168.50.*
- Port Range ‐ >1
- Destination IP ‐ 192.168.1.*
- Port Range ‐ >1
- Protocol – UDP
- Click on the + icon and save.
8. Configure the Kiosk Control Center
