Creating a $ Discount Shopping Cart Promotion
A Cart $ Discount promotion will reduce the sub-total of each shopping carts by a defined dollar value. This will affect any product the customer will add to the shopping cart. A Cart $ Discount promotion can be tied up to a promotional code that the customer must enter during checkout. If you choose not to use a promotional code, all customers will get the promotion in their shopping cart.

The first step when creating a cart promotion is to open the
Promotions tab of your
MyDakis account.

Once on the my
Promotions page, click
NEW under the Cart promotions heading.

When clicking on new, a drop-down menu will appear showing the different kind of promotions you can offer. Click on
$X Discount.

In the next windows...
Display: Give a name to your promotion. Note that the text you enter under Display will also be displayed to the customer in their shopping cart during checkout.
Amount ($): Type in the dollar value of your promotion.
Exclude from tax calculation: If checked, the tax will be calculated on the items before the discount. If left unchecked, the tax will be calculated on the discounted items. Uncheck will be most likely the one you will be using most of the time.
Date Configuration: Set your begin and end date of the promotion. You can either type in the date or click on choose date to do it on a calendar.
Coupons: Check the coupon code you want to associate your promotion with. Leave uncheck if you do not want to associate your promotion with coupon code(s).
Memberships: Check the membership code you want to associate your promotion with. Leave uncheck if you do not want to associate your promotion with membership code(s).
Click the
SAVE button when finished.
NOTE: We suggest you set your being date to a past date, so you can test your promotion right away. If the tests are conclusive, set your begin date back to when the promotion begins.
Item Promotion
There are four types of promotions. The first is the item promotion. This type of promotion allows you to choose which product it will apply to by going to the promotion section of an item and adding the promotion to the item. If not matched with coupon or membership promotions, this type of promotion will be available to everyone who selected a product linked with this promotion.

Once on the my promotions page, click new under the item promotions heading.

When clicking on new, a dropdown menu will appear showing the different kind of promotions you can offer such as the percentage of the items price, a monetary discount, buy one get one free and more.

After selecting the type of promotion you will be offering, you can then proceed to fill in the different fields. Once you are finished configuring all the options, click the create button. You will now be able to link the promotion to the products of your choice.

Now that your promotion has been create, you can now go and link your promotion to the item (i.e. camera or 4x6 print). Go to the edit section of the product and check the box next to the promotion name you've just created.
Cart Promotion
The next type of promotion you can create are cart promotions. Similarly to item promotions, if these are not associated with coupons or memberships, these will be available to all your customers.
However, the difference between item and cart promotions is that you will not be able to link any product to the cart promotion. Once the cart promotion is created and not associated with coupons or memberships, it will apply to everyone's cart no matter what they are ordering.

Under the cart promotions heading, click on new to start creating your promotion.

Using the dropdown menu, you can then select the promotion type you wish to offer from a variety of options.

Fill in the different fields with the name of the promotion, the amount or percentage and the dates for which the promotion is valid.

Once you are done with the configurations, click on create. If you have not linked any coupons or memberships a message will be displayed telling you that this promotion will be applied to all carts.
Coupon
The next type of promotion that can be used are coupon promotions. These promotions use either cart or item promotions but only allow people with coupons to use them. There are two ways to link item and cart promotions to a coupon promotion. But first, here is how to create the coupon promotion

The next step is to click on coupon under the promotion passes heading.

Once on the coupon lists page, click on New to create your new coupon promotion.

When you are on the new coupon list page, fill in the different fields and link the Promotion by checking the appropriate box, if it has already been created.

once this is done, click the create button. You will be redirected to the edit coupon list page.

Under Codes, select if you want to create your own code (New), have the system generate one (Generate), or import a list of codes from an existing spreadsheet (Import from CSV). When generating codes, you can choose the amount of codes, the length and the prefix.

Remember that for Coupons, codes can only be used once. You will be able to come back here and check if any code have been claimed of not.

Once you have created the codes, click on Save.

If you created the coupon promotion but did not link it with an associated promotion, you can go back to the item or cart promotion page and create a new promotion. On the new promotion page, you will now have an extra field where you can link the promotion to your coupons.
Membership
The final type of promotions are membership promotions. These work like the coupon promotions except that it allow customers to use their code more than once.

Under the Promotion Passes heading, click on Membership.

Once on the membership lists page, click on New.

On the new membership list page, fill in the different fields and link the Promotion by checking the appropriate box, if it has already been created. You can then select the max usage per code per month you want to offer.

Once all the field filled, click on Create.

Under Codes, select if you want to create your own code (New), have the system generate one (Generate), or import a list of codes from an existing spreadsheet (Import from CSV).

Remember that for Memberships, codes can be used indefinitely until the associated promotion expires unless you have set a maximum usage.

Once all the codes have been generated or imported, click on Save.

If not already done, create your item or cart promotion. You can go back, create your new promotion and when setting the configurations, you will be able to associate the promotion with the membership.
